The "Saint Francis Caritas" Charity Foundation in Vylok is a newly established charity, it was established in the spring of 2023, just when it was most needed. Its founder and dreamer is also its current leader, Antal Engli, who noticed that there were more and more needy people around him who needed help and started doing what he could, thus the caritas in Vylok was created. As the war progressed, more and more people found themselves in difficult situations, and today even those who would not have accepted help before are in need of help. And unfortunately, this trend has not stopped yet, the number of people in need is increasing. To help starving people, a small social kitchen started operating in a private house (the house of the manager's grandmother). At first, they only cooked for a few people, but today, on average, 120-130 hot lunches are prepared 3 times a week.

Due to the war situation in Ukraine, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mukachevo set up a crisis group to assist the work of the Diocesan Caritas. Its aim is to help in every possible way the families, women and children in need who fled from the war regardless of their religion and nationalities. The situation is extremely serious and complex, we haven’t been in a crisis like this since the World War II. The happenings around us are incomprehensible, but at the same time, it is movingly impressive to see the countless manifestations of helpful intentions and goodwill.

Prior to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, Transcarpathia was a picturesque region where our Mission operated. Before the war, Caritas Spes offered unique opportunities for spiritual recovery, training and active recreation for children and adults. Now all our Centers have been converted into accommodation of internally displaced persons.
