The Mukachevo Saint Stephan Lyceum began the 2025/2026 school year with 48 students, 21 of whom were new students, who were excited to be able to join the everyday life of the school, actively participate in the programs, and get closer to their teachers, fellow students, and the fundamental values of the community.

The school year opening ceremony began with a holy mass at the St. Martin Cathedral, where students, teachers, and parents prayed together for peace and asked for God's blessing for the new school year. The joint prayer and singing created an elevated, intimate atmosphere that provided a worthy basis for the start of the school year.

After that, the festive program continued at the lyceum. The prayer of Saint Teresa of Calcutta was recited, and then the students made the occasion more intimate and unforgettable by playing the guitar and piano, and singing together.

Attila Mihalovich, the director of the institution, highlighted the importance of faith, honor, diligence and knowledge in his celebratory speech. He emphasized that although we all have to deal with various difficulties, the lyceum community looks to the future with hope, confidence and determination. The director also pointed out that every member of the school continues their work persistently, trusting in God's providence, in the spirit of peace and love. He also reminded us that the Mukachevo Saint Stephan Lyceum is not just an educational institution, but a community and a family, where Christian values, the cultivation of traditions and the building of community life are present every day. He expressed his hope that many people will choose the lyceum in the future, as “whoever comes here to study, chooses a good school, a cohesive Christian community and a family.”

"Our hearts are also expanding, not just our knowledge," Father Arnold, the school chaplain of the lyceum, pointed out in his speech, emphasizing that the new school year brings not only the expansion of knowledge, but also the enrichment of community and human relationships.

As a touching moment of the ceremony, the older students presented the emblematic tie of the Mukachevo Saint Stephan Lyceum to the newcomers, thus expressing their belonging to the community and togetherness.
